Your Data and Data Rights
We collect data on your activity and engagement with content on our website. In addition we collect data from you that you give us through our website from when you subscribe to our mailing list, apply to an application, submit syllabi, or donate to support us. We store this data indefinitely in the databases on the server of our website where it is protected by the server. We do not copy or store it anywhere where it may be vulnerable to attack.
We do not share any of the data you provide us with anyone. We use it only to contact you to better understand how people interact with our content and to better inform you about our new and past content (audio journal issues, exchanges, theory’s curricula projects, books, oral history projects, and workshops, etc.). We may also occasionally contact you with requests for your support in helping us continue our operations.
In principle, you have the rights to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data transferability, revocation and objection. If you have provided us with any data, you can request free-of-charge that we erase any personal data we hold about you.
Subscribing to our Mailing List
On our website, we offer you the option of subscribing to our mailing list. Via this mailing list, we notify you occasionally of upcoming events, new content on our site, and opportunities for your involvement in workshops and symposia. You must submit a valid e-mail address in order to receive be on our mailing list. When you sign up to our mailing list, we save your IP address and the date as well as the time of day you signed up. This serves the purpose of our preventing a third party from misusing your e-mail address and subscribing to our mailing list without your knowledge. We do not collect additional data. All data is stored on the website server and is thus protected by the server. We do not share your data with any third parties, not combine your data with any data from third parties. You may cancel your subscription to our mailing list at any time. Each mail out to you from mail-chimp contains a cancellation link. You can also write to us at info@architecture.exchange to request this cancellation at any time. If you cancel your subscription, we delete all your data related to your mailing list subscription.
Cookies
On our website, we use cookies in order to recognize multiple usages of our website by the same user/owner of the Internet connection. Cookies are small text files that your Internet browser saves and stores on your computer. They serve the purpose of optimizing our Internet site. Our cookies only store information for seven days. Google Analytics with an IP anonymization
On our website, we rely on Google Analytics, a web analysis service from the company Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 United States, hereafter also referred to as “Google”. Google Analytics uses “cookies” – text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis of your usage of the website. The information generated by these cookies – e.g. time, place and frequency of your website visit, along with your IP address – is transferred to Google in the US and stored there. On our website, we use Google Analytics with an IP anonymization. Use of ReCapthca
In order to protect the input forms on our website from malicious bots, we utilize the “reCAPTCHA” service from the company Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043 United States, hereafter also referred to as “Google”. With this service, we can differentiate between information that has been entered into a form by a human and information that has been entered by an automated machine. The use of automated information entry constitutes misuse. To the best of our knowledge, the referrer URL, the IP address, the behaviour of website visitors, information about the operating system, browser and length of the visit, cookies, display instructions and scripts, the inputting behaviour of the user as well as the mouse movements in the reCAPTCHA checkbox area are transmitted to Google. Google uses the information obtained in this manner in order to, among other things, digitize books and other printed products as well as to optimize services such as Google Street View and Google Maps (e.g. house numbers and street name identification). The IP address transferred by reCAPTCHA is not commingled with other data by Google unless you are logged-in to your Google account at the time when you are using the reCAPTCHA plug-in. If you want to prevent this transfer and storage of data by Google about you and your behaviour on our website, you must log out of Google before you visit our website and/or use the reCAPTCHA plug-in. Donor Privacy Policy
The Architecture Exchange declares that all donors have the right:
- To be informed of the organization’s mission, of the way the organization intends to use donated resources, and of its capacity to use donations effectively for their intended purposes.
- To be informed of the identity and activities of the Architecture Exchange’s members, and to expect them to exercise prudent judgment in its stewardship responsibilities.
- To be assured their gifts will be used for the purposes for which they were given.
- To receive appropriate acknowledgement and recognition.
- To be assured that information about their donation is handled with respect and with confidentiality to the extent provided by law.
- To expect that all relationships with individuals representing organizations of interest to the donor will be professional in nature.
